Introduction of Operating Deflection Shape Analysis

This technique is an extension to pulsation vibration analysis. It is applied to identify exact location of highest amplitude when frequency is above 300 Hz by using specific software.

How the technology works

The vibration sensor is clamped on nodes that were assigned. The  information is input into the 3D software. The program will calculate and display system movement allowing technician to identify best specific location where additional support is required to reduce level of vibration. (Depending on level of complexity, installation of strain gauges may be required.)

  • Identify system and/or component movement in complex piping system where excessive vibration is detected and provide recommendation to correct problem.
  • Identify vibratory movement on rotating equipment and locate problem area.
  • Design and test effectiveness of support system on piping and equipment by modeling on software.
